Since the paper's main purpose is to highlight the Davis community and student body, submissions of creative content are critical to the paper's goal.
The art and photography pages are always open to submission for FREE, with more information available in the "Submit Content" page of this website.
The EVENTS page is an equally critical part of the paper, and is meant to be an up to date catalogue of any and all events in or around Davis. Events of any size can be submitted, and the Office of the Editor can help with any questions about logistics or privacy.
Lastly, there are multiple "Ad" spaces on the paper. These are meant to highlight clubs, organizations, local businesses, personal projects, etc. These are also FREE, but as a consequence, they are chosen at the discretion of the Office of the Editor as we may not have enough space to fit all.
This paper relies on volunteers to distribute our print edition. As a result, volunteer distributors are essential to this paper's functioning.
If you wish to become a distributor, reach out to the email on this page. The extent of your involvement can be as broad or as limited as you wish. Simply state the amount of issues you feel capable of distributing.
Distributing can be as simple as passing the paper out to your friends. If you like the paper and want to share it, it is recommended to become a distributor in even a limited capacity as you'll receive advanced copies of every issue.
If you want to actively distribute around campus and downtown, let us know and we will provide you with a guide on the best practices for doing so.
Additionally, if anyone knows any business/property in Davis that would like to become a permanent distribution point of the paper, please let us know so we can reach out.
There are multiple ways you can get involved with the Davis Standard Press, all of which is extremely important to the paper. Listed below are some common ways to contribute, though if you have any other idea, suggestion, or inquiry, reach out to the email above.
If you wish to become a writer/contribute, there are multiple ways to do so.
The DSP accepts community opinions, letters to the editor, and out of house stories, at the discretion of the Office of the Editor. If you wish to get involved in a limited capacity, this may be ideal.
If you would like to join our core writing staff, reach out to the Office of the Editor with basic information about yourself and the best way to reach out to you. Ideally submit a writing sample and share any relevant previous experience you may have, though this is not required.
If you have any questions, please reach out.
If you have a special role or connection with organizations in or around Davis, consider becoming a special correspondent between them and the Davis Standard Press. In this capacity you would provide us with the most up to date information about any important events to ensure accurate and fair reporting.
